What the Program Does
The JoCo Inflow program finds and disconnects private sources of stormwater and groundwater that are illegally tied into the sanitary sewer. Common culprits include foundation drains, exterior walk-up stairwell or area drains, and sump pump discharge pipes that empty into the sewer instead of the yard or storm system.
Removing these connections keeps excess wet-weather flow out of the pipes, protects public infrastructure, and helps reduce basement sewer backups across Johnson County.

No cost to the homeowner. Johnson County pays to disconnect private groundwater and stormwater sources from the sanitary sewer.
